'Guardian Office' sounds weird in a full sentence though - 'Returned to the Guardian Office' makes it sound like they came through the hallway to a physical office rather than 'returned to base'.

Naval base does cover the theme better but sorta misses the subtleties of the kanji that make up Chinjufu. Personally I do prefer naval base better because while accurate Guardian Office sounds like a transliteration rather than something we'd actually say in English.
If I'm not wrong too, that's how Google Translation translated it when you don't know exactly the meaning. Now, trying it again, it gives me another kind of translation...
