-The ending confirmed an end and you can't really make a new season from that. It was too epic -Taniguchi (director I believe for CG) is leaving the anime industry since R2 was not as planned and the fact he said any R3 and OVA's have a chance of nil.
Second season had a completely different time slot, thus a completely different plot was needed for a totally new audience, and this plot shitfucked what would have been a good anime. Taniguchi is depressed and is going to kill himself or something

Also, it seems no one will ever know how CG was originally planned to be. Didn't you find it odd how rolo came out of fucking nowhere and plot points hinted at in the first season were just gone? And how they didn't immediately pick up where S1 left off? They had it start off as year later so they could explain shit to the new audience
Indeed, and other then that looks like we never know C.C. real name nor do we actually know what her role was in the series, remember the very first episode? Was she just stalking Lelouch all the time or what was her plan to start with? Also I just find this very confusing, the emperor wanted to finish the sword of akasha thing. And for that he need 2 codes. Why the hell didn't they do it in the first place instead of letting C.C fleeing away from V.V , doesn't make sense or I'm just misunderstanding things. Imo this just seems to rushed, but the ending is nice nonetheless but I'd prefer it more that there was more story behind all of this and that it continue in R3.

Taniguchi is not leaving the industry, he was in a kinda depressed state when he said that. R2 was a big sucess so he has no reason to leave.

Sounds like it was a success to me.
Mainly due to being the most epic trainwreck ever. At that point no one cared about the plot anymore, just to see what kind of absurd plot twist would happen next. Most fans would have rathered see the R2 he intended.
Was a littlewrong wasn't it...Right, Lelouch?"The kings' power called 'Geass'"leaves one in solitude..."
