I see Takao and Indianapolis. And we know that Indianapolis had gone down so that means Takao went down as well. I think I have a feeling there is a reason Atago wants to take the Admiral away.

身ハ桜花ノ如く散ラムモ "Though this body may scatter like the cherry blossoms" 厶 is a classical Japanese helper verb that indicates (amongst many things) speculation (like modern でしょう)
悠久ニ護国ト化サン "I will forevermore defend my country as a demon" 護国 is the defense of ones Homeland, and 悠久に is an adverb, so the speaker isnt protecting eternity. The ン in this case is a shortening of our friend 厶 up above, but from context it is used in another sense, a volitional/intentional one
ワレハ栄アル山桜 "I am the glorious mountain Sakura" Pretty similar to what's there already
母ノ御モトニ 帰リ…咲カナム "And I shall return to my mother, where I will bloom once more" This one takes a little poetic license, but effectively what I wanted to capture was the 帰リ咲カナム. 帰り of course gives the feeling of returning. The ナム ending for 咲く is another c.jp helper verb that indicates desire/volition, but in a much stronger sense than it's cousin 厶 above.
I am by no means an expert in classical japanese, but given the context and history of the quote, as well as my initial feelings reading the original post on Twitter, I wanted to other readers a more poetic reading on our girl Akagi.
Fun fact, this is the latter half of a kamikaze pilots quote, which was referenced earlier in the manga by shouhou as she was about to go ham on the union fleet
Interesting to notice that this was basically a suicide, in every meaning of the word. It's not just that she ate the hit for Yorktown, but she made the hit so unnecessarily large as to end up sinking herself from taking it. It's not like she needed all that to take out the entire rest of the fleet. Makes you wonder if Akagi came here with the same goal as Shoukaku, but for different reasons.
Hopefully we'll get some famed 'murican damage control on the scene. Damn you Parker.
Shoukaku's declaration is a direct quote from a kamikaze pilot. There is another translation here if anyone is interested (it doesn't capture all of what is said in my opinion; Shoukaku says the first 6 lines) http://www.geocities.jp/kamikazes_site_e/isyo/isyobun/ogataiei.htm
Wow... that was fantastically stupid. Did she hope killing herself would snap Yorktown out of her madness? That's the only explanation I can think of, but, damn, is it a stupid one. I keep hoping there is something I missed otherwise this entire doujin has been one giant grimderp comedy of errors.
Where I shall bloom once more. And I return to my motherI am the glorious Mountain SakuraReturning to the Spirit Realm...I will become a demon to protect my country forevermore.Though my flesh may disperse like sakura petalsNow then, farewell.
