Mexico's sub17 team (17 years old or less) lost against Brazil in the World Championship three weeks ago when the ref called a late foul and a penality in a controversial use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) that put the score evenly between Mexico and Brazil (1-1). A latter goal from Brazil gave them the victory and the first place.
'It wasn't penality' is a popular catchphrase originated in the World Championish of Brazil 2014, when Arjen Robben faked a foul, and making the referee to call a penality, that kicked Mexico out of the semifinals.
Since then, the phrase is used to call an unfair situation.
