Patchy being an insufferable hipster for video games? I love this idea.
You're mistaking hipsters and american scrub whose name start with Da- and ends with -rkSidePhil who constantly complain about personal issues on live streams yet buy all kind of retarded crap and then whine they are too poor to get taxes and will get evicted, prompting his idiotic fans to suck him up and throws money at him.
The hipster is more like "Oh yeah, you beat Castlevania, congrats. How many savestates did you burn? Back in my days, we played the game fair instead of cheating."

That's not what a hipster is either, a hipster is someone who follows trends like a sheep, especially ones outside the mainstream, and gloats about it like a douche.
I always understood a hipster to be one who obsesses over the minutia of a given media-related subject matter. The traditional one is a music hipster (Their First Album Was Better). But you can have gaming hipsters (of which I am one) or TV or movie hipsters. Crucially, the hipster should be able and eager to pontificate upon their subject matter so thoroughly that it irritates everyone around.

That's still not what a hipster is. It has nothing to do with being well-versed in a subject, a hipster is the type of person who says, "Well I liked [thing] before it was cool!" Someone who's overly obsessed with being trendy and "hip".
A music hipster would be someone who always listens to bands no one has heard of, so that they can be pretentious about it, and then stops listening to them if/when that band gets popular, because being "mainstream" isn't hip or cool.
Okay Jesus you cheesesperger. So she's not a hipster. But there still has to be a term to identify those like us who are snooty about a chosen form of media. That's what Patchy is being in this pic.
