The government here in Ontario has been taking some flak over the fancy design of our new plates. They were originally trying to defend the "process" not the design by point to other provinces that use the same manufacturing. However, all those provinces also kept their old simple designs: dark numbers on a reflective white background. Ontario decided to reverse our colour scheme to white numbers on reflective blue (actually a pattern of two blues, a lighter one is under the numbers). This makes the plates very difficult to read under some lighting conditions at night.
Looks like this plate, fancy as it is, at least also keeps dark numbers on a white background.
Edit: Also, why does safe mode block censored when it includes non-sexual censorship like censored food? Can't we just let the rating system do its job?
