Have you played Metroid Fusion? Out of all the Metroid games, that's the one I've seen that gives Samus the most personality. Even kind of a love interest.
Metroid Fusion is actually the only Metroid game I've played, and I found it quite memorable for its story. In fact, I was surprised at its depth (considering it's all an excuse to run around a complex and blow things up). Not claiming Samus to be a super diverse character here, just thought I'd note that.
Waitwaitwait, you, GF, are discounting one of the four main[/n] Metroid games? Pssh, I'd wager your main exposure is to the Prime games.I don't care if Samus has much in the way of character development, since based on those comics (what all I've read through thus far, FSM bless translators), she seems to be past most any personal crisis point. Samus is a righteous dude, a badass, and happens to be female (and quite a looker, 'physically'-thick Zero Mission portrayals aside). Plus, c'mon, sexy, unhindered purple motion! The Power Suit and all its variants are hella cool and, in a way, part of her body.
She's also, as one of a couple of my favorite ReMixes says, "One Girl in All the World" (though we're gonna have to extend "world" to encompass the range within which their society/ies function, though maybe it an be her singular appearance amongst her various missions).

i liked Metroid Fusion too, and it did have hints of a romance

you can't compare the two so easily. samus doesn't talk because the game never called for a voice actor. master cheif talks... and that's about it. i bet he's emo, what with that monotone, depressing banter of his.

Y'know, actually reading/playing the games might clear up a lot of these confusions. First off, Samus does narrate in game a couple times. Secondly, master chief is anything but depressing.

I gotta go with Snake on this one. Being a bit of a "Ladies' Man" myself, I happen to know that a crocodile hat wins 'em over every single time. That's how my girl and I got together.
Samus would say No to Master Cheif because his name is two titles put together, and he never takes off his mask, what kind of relationship would come from that?

...actually 'master chief' is just part of his title, which is 'master chief petty officer'. his name is john. if you go with his spartan designation, it's john-117. also, the reason why you never see his face is because it allows you to kinda put yourself in his position.
