I love the new look, but this is not confirmed as even being an entrant into the contest, as far as I'm aware. This look and the box art were released prior to the conclusion of the contest. It *may* be the winner, in which case it's rather odd they would pick a winner before the contest ended, but it may also be a commission.
Still very confusing. Apparently Mario now works with the English Vocaloid... division...company thing. So I don't know if he is a "winner" or just giving Sonika a makeover at request, because they saw his artwork.
So perhaps the contest is still looking for winners?
Yup, apparently that is the case. Commissioned artwork.
What is annoying, is that the company NEVER gave any hints that Sonika's boxart would switch. And then doing so while the contest was still going? My goodness...
And Mario NEVER explained that his post was about commissioned work. Zero G needs to get their act together.
To be fair to Zero-G, they never said that the winner would *actually* be used for any promotional purposes. The line in the rules that people took that from is basically there to make people waive any rights to sue Zero-G if they don't like how their art is used.
All the winner was ever guaranteed was a copy of the software. Zero-G can do whatever they want with the box art.
It's also not the first commission Mario has done. What I find odd is that it isn't on his official site. It's only on his DA page.
lol They should be more clear with that. Okay, some more info. The guy who posted the early prototype of this pic (the early one had "Vocaloid" on her shirt) mistook the image for the competition.
Glad the anger around this mistake is Slooowly dying... though I am still not in favor of this look.
