This is indeed very creative. Rather than put in everyone's familiars (shown in the manga) in the anime, they are shown as emblems instead. This is pretty cool.

also reminds me of those jets that had Beldandy, Urd, and Sculd on them from like russia or something
Wilcke's logo is also based on JG 53's (the unit the real Wilcke flew with for the first half of the war) "Pik As" emblem, Hartmann's on the real Hartmann's "Karaya" personal aircraft art (sort of, the heart anyway), and Yeager's logo text is similar to the style of "Glamorous Glennis" markings on the Bell X-1 the real Yeager flew in the first recorded supersonic flight (no bunnies involved).
