You know how Aya said the SDM was half destroyed? The basement was the half that wasn't destroyed, seeing as how Flandre seemed to have dentonated and destroyed everything above ground level including the grounds (see:Meiling).

I kind of don't understand why Flan with destroy SDM just because of a joke?It doesn't make sense.It's funny though.

Flan destroyed it because she didn't understand it was a joke until later.
Or, she was mad because it was a joke (A very mean one) and had an Episode.
I'm leaning towards the first option, myself, with her going from '....' to '*WAAAHHHH!*' in an instant (After apparently taking a couple seconds to process it)

She reacted just as Remilia started to say "Juuuust kidding!". It looks as though Remilia didn't even say all that, she just said the first part and Flandre had already started tearing up.
I'd say that finding out she WASN'T related to the person who kept her locked up for nearly half a millennium made her very angry and unhappy (because who DIDN'T pull the "You're adopted" lie on their younger siblings when they were younger?) and she had an epic tantrum that only stopped when some responsible adults cooled her down with words and ice cream. (spoiler cause I don't like ruining the joke)
@JakebobI don't understand why people keep saying that Remilia was the one who locked Flan away down in the basement. Does it ever actually say Remilia did it? I remember the source I read said Flandre was locked in the basement shortly after she was born, and Remi's only a year older than her, so if anything it's their parents fault and the only reason Remilia keeps her down there is because it was already too late by the time she inherited the mansion.

Spoilered to not ruin the mood.
I've always thought that Flandre was ordered by Remilia to stay in the basement due to her overwhelming destructive power that surpasses even Remilia's, and her apparent insanity. She never tries to let herself out, possibly due to the respect she has for her older sister. One thing that's definitely confirmed is her year of birth, that being 1508AD, which puts her (in EoSD) at 495 y.o., 5 years younger than Remilia.
Unfortunately, my only source is the Touhou Wiki, so I may as well be guessing.
I don't know exactly why I thought it was only a year age difference, but five is still too young to have been the one to make a decision like that even for someone who was born a vampire, so I still think it wasn't her decision.
Then again I'm not sure how reliable my source is either, so I could be wrong. Also even if she did, she likely thought she was making the best call she could make under the circumstances, and it's not like she totally ignores Flan down there or anything. She has Patchouli tutoring her for one thing.
Anyway, judging by the ice cream sundae Flan's digging into, at least they know how to calm her down. XD;
Given that they are vampires their "age" could simply be their age as a vampire, without factoring in how old they were at the time of their conversion. Wouldn't think Remi would have had reason to lock Flan up prior to them becoming vampires though, regardless of how they are related.
The manor's current master, Remilia Scarlet, has steadfastly kept silent.
