I see what you did there.
Awesome as this is (which is plenty), let's see how Karaagetarou fixes the fact that Okuu has a living person inside her, all the times. (try to imagine how subterranean animism can happen if good ol'yatagarasu is telling her: "Oi! Oi! Stop that!" all the time)
Fastest I think I've ever managed a Karaagetarou strip. :-) Love all the reaction faces in this one, especially Satori in panel 1.
Gonna miss the cute, tiny Okuu, but this is good in its own way.
That's not fair, it's so light even somebody like me could've translated it. :P (admittedly I'd still have to look up 'Okuu' since I had never seen the kanji for her nickname, but still)
For a few moments I thought Okuu had a starry sky inside her cape. As always, many thanks to the translator(s). It's always a treat to come here and finding that these great stories keep going (personally, I also follow dora_e and dei_shirou). This one has been certainly one hell of a ride, though part of me wishes Karaagetarou could go back to the simpler days of Bat-Flan and Fatchouli. Still, I understand if the artist prefers the challenge of more emotionally compelling stories.
After better checking, so it seems. Boy, is my face red...
To say something in my defense, I'm still not very familiar with the SA characters. I'm just one of those half-baked fans who got into the series because of all the magnificent fan works it has spawned.

Just go ahead and try SA out. It's a bit hard (okay, it will rape you, your mother and your dog), but on the other hand it's one of the better shmup pieces out there. Also, if you spend enough time on it, most of the other games will seem fairly easy in comparison.

That's how pretty much a lot of the Touhou Fandom came from, me included. I got to play the games after a while, and I found out how much I missed out after I did!
Try doing exacty what Heparine said, though. But if shmups scare the living toss out of you, try playing the fighting games instead (Scarlet Weather Rhapsody and its addon, Hisoutensoku) since they are great games, as well. At least that's how I did it. Then, ease your way into the marvelous world of Bullet Hell!
Oh yeah, and just to say it because it would be a travesty not to, Okuu is gorgeous. I said this before, I know... But I'm not getting tired of repeating it!

Just go to the Touhou wiki ( http://en.touhouwiki.net/ ). It's how I managed to learn everything about Touhou after I kept seeing it pop up on TV Tropes, and the translations of the games in particular are incredibly useful for discovering vital pieces about the setting and the characters.
Heparine and Goldva, Thanks for the suggestions. To be honest, if I were to pick up these games, IN might be my first choice since most of my favorite characters are there, followed by those in ESD. I admit I'm not very good with shmups in general, which probably means I'd be dreadfully terrible with Touhou but I'm a big Castlevania geek, so I might start off with the Koumajou Densetsu games.
FDV 91, Very true. Nice to see a fellow Basara connoisseur here. Quite a rarity in Danbooru.
Extraintrovert, I've dawdled around it a few times. Certainly lives up to it's wiki name. Part of my fascination with it's characters is thanks to the fan contributions to their characterization. I confess the Touhou world somehow appeals to my inner child.

I'll be honest, I suck at the (non-fighting) Touhou games so I can't clear any of them even on Normal. So I cheat and I never looked back. Just Google "Touhou cheat engine" and you'll be able to breeze through the games.
I love the series and I'd love to get through them without cheating but jeez ZUN, did you really need to put in a no-continue condition for the final stage?

Play Imperishable Night on Easy with max lives (five, I think). If you get stuck in the higher levels, use Spell Practice to grind the individual spell cards that are giving you trouble until you can beat them.
The nice thing about Touhou is that the engines are similar enough between games that your skill at one carries over pretty well to all the others. I started out dying to the Prismrivers in PCB Easy and now I can 1cc SA Hard, so I'm sure you can get better if you apply yourself.
I just had a thought...what if that cape of hers is actually a mini-universe she created. And due to the nuclear fusion reactions, she is actually CREATING stars IN that universe. From this picture, it seems like the stars are not actually in there at the moment, but are just fading sparkles that are settling around the two of them. It would certainly give her an output for that power of hers, and it emphasizes that the power is actually contained
