Erk, maybe I should have expected this, but I'm having trouble extracting the .zip files. Something about wrong file name/directory name/etc. Actually this kind of thing has been happening many times when I try to unzip stuff. Any way to unzip stuff with this kind of problem?
Total shot in the dark, but perhaps you don't have Asian system language support enabled? Try using 7zip or WinRAR. Or, use the Right Click>Extract to (foldernsame) option of whatever you use.
Hmm, my language is actually an Asian system (Korean locale), but Japanese text does tend to be broken. I solved the problem by unzipping with UNiZIP, but now the error is that I can't access the JAR file. Conversely, I still encountered an error when I unzipped the Yukari shimeji, but it's running pretty well and cute.
Well, don't mind anyway. Yukari's damn cute here. Will ask my friend tomorrow.
there are two files in the folder titled "conf" that need to be renamed if you're using the .zip file. The 43 kb should be renamed 動作 and the 10 KB file should be renamed 行動.
Thanks festin, atleast i have the yukari shimeji up. i have 10 of them right now lol. i think i have the same problem as lick king, cause i cant open the tenshi file cause of the JAR file.

Then just extract only the "img" folder from the tenshi shimeji and replace the img folder of your yukari shimeji (just backup your yukari shimeji), maybe you can extract the img folder only of the tenshi shimeji file... but if you replace that you will lose the yukari shimeji so I advice to you to backup the img folder of the yukari shimeji so you won't lost them.
Rumia one is the same as Tenshi. Extraction without problem, but the JAR file causing problem. I did as Lunatic6 suggested, and it's working pretty well and cutely. Thank you. I think the two shimeji may not be perfectly compatible though.

That's kinda what I was hinting at with the system language bit, but it was like 3AM again (someone should take my midnight 'booru rights away...) and I forgot to put that whole sentence in. Derp.
Anyone help? I tried to run the file, but there's some warning about Java 6 or something...I got Java 7 in my machine...what happened? Or does it have to do with locale setting?
Update: Ok, solved...seems like you need Java for IE, and not just JDK...
One question, all mine seems to be doing is the sit down on the bottom, run, or climb around...not the other things I can see in the img folder. Is it just a matter of time kinda thing where they will do it eventually or?
I suppose the other question to ask would be if it matters which one you open...the application or the Jar file since they both bring the lil touhou out.
So many touhou's on my desktop, as Im typing this there's like a 5 second delay between my typing and the text being displayed onscreen. Tenshi is there eating her peach and spawning more Tenshi's, while Rumia and Yuukas are camping on the sides.

For all the ones that I have, I do diffenetly get all of the actions. Some are just more common than others. I think the most I ever had on my screen was like 7 different ones(No i wasn't actually doing anything) and i totally spent like 20 minutes just watching them run along my screen.

Try opening a browser in a window mode while there are many of them, then wait for some time and see what happens...
As far as I know, possible movement from a common shimeji by rarity:
1) Walking/Crouching (R: Common) 2) Latching onto the active browser window available (R: Medium) 3) Spawning. (R: Medium) 4) Tossing the active window offscreen (R: Rarest) Of course, the rarity of the actions can be tinkered around, but that's a talk for next time...
Miscellaneous actions: - If you are holding a shimeji for a long time without moving around, it will attempt and finally yank out from your grasp - Interactions with the icon on the taskbar (For common shimeji): 1) Clicking it or Choice 1 spawns a new shimeji 2) Choice 2 calls them to follow the mouse and sit down 3) Choice 3 eliminates all but 1 shimeji. 4) Choice 4 brings back the thrown browser windows

You can check here before it's deleted if you want Touhou ones. There is also a link to the english version of the application in the first post, but it has its own good points and shortcomings.

But I still prefer pixiv for high quality shimeji.
Also... someone I think already put the link for the Shimeji EE on shimeji_(desktop_mascot) tag. and the pixiv tag search link.

Yes, but that's certainly an ambiguous tag that I'm not familiar with. Generally, you can go with this to yield more results. (Though that leads to other works regarding mushrooms, but they are the minority). Besides, the site I linked to contain works from pixiv as well, and also helps around with those having problems with their applications.

I won't really suggest using it, though. While it is more readable and allows more commands, it has certain issues that the creator hasn't worked on yet.
It would be amusing if different Shimeji interacted with each other. (ex. Mokou/Kaguya attacking each other or hell your own personal danmaku battle, heh)
Dear person who provided the Rumia link; I accidentally clicked 'vote down' instead of clicking on the link and I am very sorry. I know I sound like an idiot and I'm wasting everyone's time. I would click 'vote up' again if I could but I don't see your comment anywhere.
Nah, don't worry is just an accident... I don't care much of my comments been voted down... also it looks like its been voted up again already so there's nothing to feel sorry about.

In case you still don't know, posts voted down can still be seen by clicking the "x comment below threshold" under the picture (I didn't know about this for quite awhile to be honest).
Whether or not you can reverse your vote by voting up though, I'm not sure.
You can vote only once to a comment, so it's not possible to vote it up. Also, (I don't know if it's so only in Chrome) if you vote down a comment, it disappears, so to see it again you have to refresh the page and look through the comments below threshold.
