Personification of the lead ship of the Richelieu-class battleships in Kantai Collection. Named after the "Red Eminence" Cardinal Richelieu, a French clergyman and statesman.
Voiced by Tanibe Yumi and drawn by akira (kadokawa).
Richelieu has long blonde hair with a small part hanging between her eyes and light blue eyes. She has a mole under left eye and below her mouth.
Her outfit consists of a white beret with a red pom-pom accessory at the top, a black-white-grey strapless dress with a belt under the breasts, a grey-black-red scarf, black and white gloves, a tricolore scarf tied on her left arm, black and white thighhighs, and loafers.
She received a seasonal outfit during the 2017 Saury mini-event in the game. This outfit is more contemporary; she wears a white shirt, high-waist pants, blue scarf, and high heels. She also gains sunglasses on her head, red nails, a watch on her left wrist, and a white shoulder bag. The damaged CG reveals a red bra.
As she is French and is drawn by the same artist she has a resemblance to Commandant Teste.
Her historical counterpart was laid down in 1935, launched in 1939 and still not fully complete at the start of World War II. She served both sides during the war. She began the war under Vichy France, notably helping fend off an Allied attack on Dakar. She joined the Allies in November 1942, and after a refit in New York was mostly employed in the Indian Ocean. After the war she served as a training ship and was eventually scrapped in 1968.
